The Nasu Carbon Steel Wok: Built for the Flame
The Nasu is not just a cooking utensil; it's a wok built to last. Hand-forged from wrought iron — hammered into shape, not cast, not pressed. Wrought iron stores heat and gives it back steadily: the temperature doesn't collapse the moment you add cold ingredients, which is exactly what high-heat stir-frying needs. No coating, no PTFE, no PFAS.
Its wooden handle offers a firm, comfortable grip and stays cool during cooking over a direct flame. With the included wooden lid, the Nasu also steams, no extra accessories needed.
Wrought iron seasons naturally over time: with every high-heat session a thin layer of cooked-in oil bonds to the metal. That's the natural non-stick property of bare iron, and it improves with use. An initial seasoning is required; after that, maintenance is minimal — rinse, dry, lightly oil.
Round base: made for open flame
This wok has a traditional round base, not a flat one. In practice:
- Gas: use with a wok ring so the wok sits stable in the flame. This is how the wok is designed to be used.
- Induction wok zone (recessed hob): suitable — wrought iron is magnetic.
- Flat induction, ceramic or electric hobs: not suitable. A round base touches a flat plate at a single point: unstable, with uneven heat.
The 32 cm suits 2–4 people; the 40 cm is sized for larger burners, big families and heavy use (6+ people).
